Or hello for the first time, if we haven’t met before 🙂
I’m Janice, the person behind Just Ask Janice Today. I help UK small business owners and solopreneurs, just like you, with the technology used for your business.
That might be building or looking after your WordPress website, improving your Google Business Profile, setting up Google Calendar for bookings or helping you implement legal templates. All those practical things that need doing, but which can take up rather a lot of time when you’re not sure where to start.
You get to be the expert in what you do whilst I take care of the tech. After all, no one can know everything, even me.
I’ve not written for quite some time so I thought it was about time I explained what I do. Because “Tech VA” might mean absolutely nothing to you and that’s okay 🙂
What is a Tech VA?
VA stands for virtual assistant. In my case, the “tech” part means I help with the websites, software and online services behind your business. I work remotely, so we don’t need to be in the same office or even the same county 🙂
Do you need a new website, or want to change something on the one you already have? Perhaps you’d like customers to be able to book a call with you and need help getting that set up.
When was the last time you had a critical look at your website and checked everything was working? Do you have the correct legal notices and documents there? At the time of writing this I have a long list of things to change on my website now it’s over 3 years old. Hopefully by the time you read this I’ll have made many of those changes but it all takes time. Spot any errors? Please let me know here.
You know what you want to happen. Working out which settings make it happen is another matter.
That’s the sort of work I help with, Let’s Chat.
What exactly can I help you with?
You can get help with:
- WordPress website builds. A new website for your business, with pages that explain what you do and how people can get in touch.
- WordPress maintenance and updates. Looking after your existing website and making changes to its pages and content as your business changes.
- Google Business Profile improvements. Reviewing and improving the information people find about your business on Google.
- Google Calendar bookings. Setting up Google Calendar so people can choose from the appointment times you make available and book with you.
- Legal template implementation. Help working through legal templates and getting the completed documents in place for your website and business.
What you need will depend on your business and what you already have in place. You might need help with one particular task, or a few things that need sorting out together. Starting from scratch? We can do that together.
We can talk through that before deciding what work is needed. All you need to do is
Just Ask Janice Today.
Who do I help?
I work with UK small business owners and solopreneurs.
Perhaps you’re comfortable doing some things yourself, but there’s one job you keep getting stuck on. Perhaps you’ve followed the instructions and what’s on your screen looks nothing like the example. I’ve been there! Why is it that companies can’t keep their own ‘How Tos’ up to date?
Or perhaps you could work it out, given enough time, but you’d rather spend that time doing the work your customers come to you for.
You don’t need to know the technical name for the problem either. Start by telling me what you’re trying to do, what’s happening at the moment and where you’ve got stuck. We can go from there.
How we’d work together
If you’re disabled, neurodivergent, have a chronic illness such as M.E., or just a complete technophobe, I’m happy to work at your pace.
You may need time to think, make decisions or explain what you need. There may be other things that affect how you like to work too. We can talk about what works for you.
If you want to know, I’ll help you to understand what’s happening in your business. If I use a technical term, I’ll explain what it means and why it matters. Unless you really don’t want to know, that’s okay too.
There will be things I need to ask you, because it’s your business and the decisions should make sense for you. I’ll explain the options plainly so you can decide, rather than leave you wondering what you’ve agreed to.
And if I need to check something, I’ll say so. The aim is to get the work done and help you feel clearer about the things you’re using.
Coming soon…
There’s also something new on the way. I’m preparing AI skills you’ll be able to use yourself in your business, with how-to videos to help you get started, and an AI skills membership for more in-depth help and support.
“What’s an AI Skill?” I hear you say. Don’t worry it will all be explained to you in an easy and accessible way.
These aren’t available yet. Watch this space for more details when they’re ready 🙂
What you’ll find here on my blog
I’ll be sharing practical explanations, written step-by-step guides and posts about software I use and why.
Some posts will help you have a go yourself. Others might help you work out what you want help with. You can use whichever is useful to you.
If there’s a technology task you’d like some help with, let’s chat in a video call where we can talk about what you need and whether I can help.
For now, hello again. Welcome to Just Ask Janice Today.
